AZ DACA Students Pay Much Higher Tuition

DACA students in Arizona aren’t able to get in-state tuition.

The supreme court of Arizona made a rule that Arizona colleges aren’t allowed to give students who are part of DACA in-state tuition.

According to AZ Central, this rule was passed on April 2, 2018. I spoke to Mr. Q of West Phoenix High School about the issue,  “It wasn’t fair for the state Supreme Court to make this decision,” he said.

According to AZ Central, some students that are already attending the Arizona colleges or Universities will only pay $9,834 for tuition next school year and non-resident student will pay $27,618.

The difference in tuition costs is significant, and DACA recipients are currently fighting to appeal this court decision.
